This painting came to fruition because of a radio announcement in december 1987 regarding the so called Doomsday clock. This clock is located at the James Franck Institute at the University of Chicago and depicts the level of danger of a nuclear war. This clock has been at three minutes before the magical 12 since 1984 until the signing of the INF treaty, when it was moved back to six minutes to twelve.
On the painting I show my two sons how I turn back the Japanese planetarium clock from three to six minutes.
