This painting came to fruition because of a radio announcement regarding the so called "Doomsday clock". This clock is located at the James Franck Institute at the University of Chicago and depicts the level of danger of a nuclear war.
This clock has been at three minutes before the magical 12 since 1983 until the signing of the SALT II treaty, when it was moved back to six minutes to twelve. On the painting I show our two sons how I turn back the Japanese planetarium clock from three to six minutes.
